PORF to Fund Pilot Study
PORF has agreed to fund a pilot study at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The study will address pre-pubertal girls and is designed to determine the degree to which their fertility is compromised before, during, and after chemotherapy. It is a prospective longitudinal study that will follow approximately 25 children for five years.
This study will cost $14,000. It will be funded completely by PORF.
PORF envisions this pilot study to be the first in a stream of research that will focus specifically on the fertility of pre-pubertal girls. To this point, much of the treatment for pre-pubertal female fertility is based on more general research from older children and adults
